Practical tips for safe casting and being cast, from communication to payments and recognising fraud.
Last updated: August 2026
1. Safe communication on the platform
Preferably use the chat function on iCasting for your first contacts with a client or talent. This keeps a record of your conversation, which is useful if any uncertainty arises later.
Be cautious about sharing sensitive personal information, such as your home address, private telephone number, bank account number, identity document or other information that is not necessary for the casting, before you have been able to properly assess a casting call and the other party.
Preferably confirm concrete arrangements in writing, for example through the chat on the platform or by email. In any case, record:
- what the casting call entails;
- where and when the casting call takes place;
- how long the casting call is expected to last;
- what fee has been agreed;
- whether travel costs, accommodation costs or other costs will be reimbursed;
- whether there are special circumstances, such as nudity, intimacy, stunts or physically demanding work.
This prevents misunderstandings and provides support in the event of any subsequent problems.
2. Payments through iCasting and between users
Payments for iCasting services themselves, such as subscriptions and costs for posting a casting call, always go through the iCasting balance and our secure payment providers. More about this can be found in the Terms of Delivery.
Fees for a casting call between a client and talent are agreed between the parties. iCasting can, where available, act as an intermediary in the payment to talent. In that case:
- the client debits the gross amount from their balance;
- iCasting deducts 3% administration fees from the amount paid to talent;
- talent receives the remaining net amount;
- no separate invoice is issued to the client for the talent fee and the deducted 3%.
The client and talent remain responsible for the tax and administrative processing of the fee. See also the Terms of Delivery and the Privacy Policy.
Be extra cautious when a client asks you to transfer money in advance, for example for "material costs", "administrative costs", "photos" or a "deposit" before a casting call has been carried out. Reliable clients do not normally ask for this. Never transfer money to someone you cannot verify.
3. Warning signs of fraud and misuse
Watch out for the following signals that may indicate an unreliable client, unreliable talent or another security risk:
- a casting call that pays unusually well for little clearly defined effort;
- requests to communicate quickly, outside the platform and without clear arrangements;
- requests to transfer money before a casting call has been carried out;
- requests for sensitive photos, videos or other content that are not necessary for the casting;
- a profile without clear photos, history or verifiable company details;
- pressure to quickly share personal or sensitive information;
- contradictory or vaguely worded casting-call descriptions;
- casting calls that appear to violate laws and regulations, such as child labour, unsafe working conditions or unpaid work;
- requests to share login details, payment details or other security information;
- clients who refuse to confirm arrangements in writing.
If you doubt the integrity of a user or a casting call, do not take irreversible steps and report it via Report misuse.
4. Tips for minor talent and their parents or guardians
Additional points of attention apply to minor talent. We advise parents and guardians to:
- manage their child's profile together with them and regularly check what information is visible;
- accept only casting calls that are appropriate for the child's age and development;
- always be present at first meetings, castings, recordings or other activities with a new client;
- confirm arrangements regarding fees, working hours, rest periods and transport in writing in advance, in line with the applicable rules on child labour in the creative sector;
- never share their child's personal contact details without first checking and supervising this themselves;
- ensure that the child knows that they should contact the parent or guardian immediately if they have any doubts or discomfort.
iCasting continuously works to keep the platform safe, but the vigilance of parents and guardians remains essential when it comes to minor talent.
5. Safety when using the AI casting assistant
The AI casting assistant can help you create a casting call. Do not enter sensitive personal data, passwords, payment details, health data or other information that is not necessary to create a casting call in the chat window.
Always check the generated text for accuracy, completeness and suitability before posting the casting call. The AI can make mistakes or make suggestions that are not appropriate for your situation.
6. Reporting something?
Do you encounter an unsafe situation, suspicious behaviour, fraud, misuse, intimidation, discrimination or a suspicion of unlawful content? Report this immediately via Report misuse or contact us through the contact page.
When reporting, please preferably provide:
- the type of report, for example fraud, intimidation, unsafe casting call or infringement;
- the users, casting calls or profiles involved;
- a brief description of what happened;
- the date and time of the incident;
- any evidence, such as screenshots, chat messages or emails.
iCasting assesses reports within a reasonable period and takes appropriate measures where necessary, such as removing content, restricting an account or involving authorities.
